Advertising a vacancy

Building a listing, and getting it onto the portals.

For landlords
  1. 1
Create the listing against the unit

Rent, deposit, available date, beds, baths, size, pets and what is included.

  2. 2
    Add photos

At least one is required. A listing without a photo gets ignored, so this is enforced rather than suggested.

  3. 3
    Have a description drafted

Villagely can write one from the unit's own details and then check it a second time against those details, removing anything it cannot support. Read it before publishing — it is a first draft, not an author.

  4. 4
    Publish

The listing gets its own public page with the gallery and an enquiry form. Its address is generated once and never changes, so a link you share keeps working.

Getting onto Zillow and the others

Villagely produces the feed each portal wants — Zillow, Apartments.com in MITS format, Zumper, and a generic one. The portal has to accept you into its feed programme first, which you apply for directly and which typically takes a couple of weeks. Nothing syndicates until that is done.
