Enquiries and applications are different

Somebody asking a question has not applied for anything.

For landlords

An enquiry comes from the public listing page — somebody asking whether it is still available, or when they could see it. It arrives in its own queue.

An application is a formal submission with income, contact details and consent to be assessed. It arrives against the unit and starts a decision process.

Why they are kept apart

Treating an enquiry as an application is how you lose the person. They asked a question; being processed as a candidate they never agreed to be is off-putting and, where it involves collecting personal information they did not consent to give, worse than off-putting.

Still stuck?
